Work Placement Programs

The Scholars Advantage:

• All Scholars Placement Specialists are professional and possess extensive local networking connections. They are skilled in identifying suitable employment matches while ensuring relevant client restrictions are properly accommodated.
• Scholars Facilitators have completed the SafeAbility Facilitator Certification Workshop and are skilled in the job search process.
• All students actively participate in the placement component to ensure their ability to return to viable employment.
• All participants receive the SafeAbility Training to raise awareness about health and safety in the workplace and to assist in the preparation for work.
• Scholars has equipped 622 individuals with the necessary skills and confidence to execute an effective job search. The Scholars JSTP and CJST programs have a success rate of 73%.
• Post-Program Services – students can access our centres after they have successfully completed their program at no extra cost to the student.
• Scholars will provide you with monthly Monitoring Forms and a final report within two days of program completion. Prior to commencement of the Work Placement Program, you will receive a Work Place Audit Form and a Training Plan.

Program Prerequisite:

• Student must have completed the Scholars CJSTP and have an identified employment goal.

Program Duration:

• To be determined based on the student’s needs.

Methodology:

Clients complete job search and SafeAbility training. Through the use of role play, group interaction, practical exercises and on-going support our interactive and behavioural-based programs prepare the student for securing a successful placement (Work Placement Program) or employment (Placement Services). With the support of the Placement Specialist, opportunities for employment are located and formal interviews are completed with the prospective training employer to ensure suitability.  During the Work Placement Program, the student is regularly monitored by the Placement Specialist.

Program Description & Content:

Scholars Return-to-Work Placement Services are available to assist your client in their return to viable employmen. Clients receive support from the Placement Specialist to reduce the barriers to re-entering the work force while increasing client self-confidence. The focus of these programs is to assist the client in obtaining job opportunities.

Placement Services

Scholars will support your clients in obtaining a suitable employer in their chosen line of work. Scholars will assist clients with the following:

1. Support with researching and networking and various job search tools
2. Preparation of individual employer application packages and tracking sheet of prospective employers
3. Assistance with interview preparation
4. SafeAbility Training
5. Follow-up contact with employers to ensure mastery of job search skills

Work Placement Program

For those clients who are interested in obtaining actual on-the-job training, our Work Placement Program will improve their employability and marketability in these unique economic times. Scholars will assist clients with the following:

1. Assure that training corresponds with their vocational goal through negotiation with the placement employer and through the creation of an individualized training plan
2. Ensure training is completed in a safe work environment and that all relevant restrictions are properly accommodated
3. Complete regular monitoring of the placement
4. Provide Post-Program Services

Job Coaching

Should your client require one-on-one assistance on-the-job Scholars can provide a Job Coach to work alongside your client in the workplace setting. Our Job Coach will assist the client in obtaining the important job requirements in a timely manner and assist in mediation between the client and the training supervisor.
