Job Search Training Program
The Scholars Advantage:
- The Scholars JSTP and CJST programs have been completed by 622 students with a success rate of 73%.
- All Scholars Facilitators are experienced in dealing with adult learners who may have a disability. Instructors are friendly and flexible to accommodate a broad range of student needs.
- After completion of the theory component, the student receives three weeks of actual job search with the assistance of a Job Coach. Students receive three hours two times per week of in-class training, leaving the rest of the week to complete an actual job search. Students keep to their time lines by following their individualized Action Plan. During this component, the job seekers are coached through the practical application of researching potential employment opportunities, networking and completing effective interviews.
- All employer packages are prepared at the centre and are proofed by a professional proofer to ensure quality. Students receive a digital version of all documentation (Individualized Resumes, Cover Letters, Letters of Introduction, Follow-Up Letters and Reference and Fax Sheet Templates).
- All participants receive the SafeAbility – Health & Safety Awareness Training Workshop to raise awareness about health and safety in the workplace and to assist in the preparation for work.
Program Prerequisites:
- Introduction to Computers Program or minimal background knowledge of computers.

- Week 3: Two days per week for three hours per day
- Week 4: Two days per week for three hours per day
Methodology:
Students complete an individualized Job Hunter’s Preparation Checklist prior to commencing the program and revisit this individualized learning plan two additional times prior to graduation. Facilitators regularly consult this checklist to ensure mastery of all the job search skill sets.
Students are taught through a behavioural-based model. Some topics included in this model are stress management, time management, team building, communication skills and True Colors.
Our interactive PowerPoint slides demonstrate the skill sets that correspond to the student binder. Through the use of role play, group interaction and practicum, students not only increase their job search knowledge, they also increase their confidence.
