High School Credit Facilitation Program
The Scholars Advantage
- All Scholars Facilitators are experienced in dealing with adult learners. Instructors are friendly and open-minded to accommodate a broad range of student capabilities.
- Students will work with Scholars Facilitators who specialize in the subject area of the student’s credit course.
- Scholars provides computer access for easy electronic submission of student assignments, which decreases waiting times on lesson return.
- Scholars provides the first course books for many popular courses to allow students to start programming at any time.
- Scholars will facilitate communication with the Independent Learning Centre to assist with student registration, lesson submission, and exam requests, as well as with the application process for Prior Learning Assessment Recognition and/or Maturity Credits.
Program Prerequisite:
- Grade 8 equivalency in Reading and/or Mathematics
- Additional prerequisites as specified by the Independent Learning Centre
Methodology:
Once a student has enrolled in a course and has received course materials, he/she can begin attending tutoring sessions where a qualified tutor will review assigned material and key concepts. Tutors assist by teaching challenging concepts, reviewing student assignments and practice questions, as well as by suggesting additional resources when possible.
Program Resources (Included in the cost of programming):
- 4-5 Course books for each Credit Course (provided by the ILC)
