College Preparation Program
The Scholars Advantage:
- All Scholars Facilitators possess a B. Ed. and are experienced in dealing with adult clientele. Instructors are friendly and flexible to accommodate a broad range of student capabilities.
- Scholars has “scholarized” this program to ensure that each student’s needs are addressed within the timelines provided and to ensure student success. Instructors do so by regularly consulting the Personalized Program Planner to ensure that students stay on track with timelines. This process also ensures that all students are prepared for the post-secondary environment.
- Scholars includes the Introduction to Computers Program so that students are prepared to deal with the technological demands of a post-secondary program.
- Scholars will provide you with a final report within two days of program completion.
Program Prerequisite:
- Grade 12 equivalency and the student must be planning to enroll or be enrolled in a post-secondary program.
Program Duration:
- 20 hours 5 days per week
Methodology:
Students are provided with practical exercises and independent assignments. Students begin with identifying their own unique learning styles and methods for taking advantage of their learning style through case studies and exercises. Students learn how to set goals and manage time effectively. By the end of the course, students develop strategies for coping with various types of assignments and tests, as well as how to effectively learn. The program provides students with an introduction to a variety of methods to cope with and succeed in a post-secondary environment.
For the computer component, students complete an individualized Introduction to Computers Checklist prior to commencing the program and revisit this individualized learning plan two additional times prior to completing the program. Instructors regularly consult this checklist to ensure mastery of all the computer modules. Students will be provided with step-by-step instructions along with hands on assignments from a qualified instructor.
