Scholars Guaranteed Academic Upgrading Program (GAP), unique only to Scholars, begins with the testing of each student to identify his or her particular skill gaps. As a Canadian Company we use current, standardized Canadian assessments to determine the student's areas of strengths and weaknesses. Our testing is consistent with the Provincial Curriculum that your child is being taught in their school. Each student receives an individualized program based on the level of their understanding in each subject. Their individualized program is designed to fill the GAP between their existing level of performance to their current or higher grade levels. Often the improvement of two or more grade levels can be achieved with a single program. Personalized programs are offered in reading, math, writing, and study skills.

Our Guaranteed Academic Program is available in four areas:

Reading Program

The Reading Program focuses on vocabulary, phonics and comprehension skills. Students build on their skills to achieve success at the appropriate grade level.

Writing Program

The Writing Program focuses on assisting the student in understanding and applying the principles of writing using Language Mechanics (punctuation, capitalization) and Language Expression (grammar, sentence structure, paragraph analysis). Students begin with writing paragraphs and progress to essay writing, following provincial curriculum requirements.

Math Program

The Math Program includes five different areas of curriculum so that the student develops a comprehensive foundation in mathematics using number sense, measurement, geometry and spatial sense, patterning and algebra and data management & probability.

Study Skills Program

The Study Skills Program has been created to teach concepts and techniques that can be integrated into any area of study. Students learn effective time-management, note taking, reading techniques and test-taking strategies. Study Skills is an invaluable set of tools that will provide a strong foundation and understanding of organization for success and achievement that is an invaluable asset for further education.
