Foster a Love of Reading

The Scholars Reading Readiness Program is designed for students who’ve yet to enter senior kindergarten or grade 1, usually ages five to seven. Reading Readiness is also available for those students who have tested under the grade 1 equivalency in the reading assessment of the Canadian Achievement Test 3.

This program provides help for a child who is experiencing challenges in mastering the fundamental skills necessary for becoming a successful reader.

Through the use of the Scholars Reading Readiness Phonics Assessment test, specific skills are determined to define a base level to build from and skill gaps are identified for improvement. Reading Readiness focuses on phonics, letter names, letter sounds, printing, vowels, and consonant blends with attention to vocabulary and comprehension. Each program is individualized to meet the needs of the specific child.

Reading skills are the key to success in education. By having each program designed for the individual child a sense of accomplishment is achieved as they progress at a pace designed for them. Your child will establish a love for learning and a newfound sense of confidence and achievement through our Reading Readiness Program.
